Our lodge was filled to the brim once again this past December and all indications are that it will be the same this December with guests returning year after year.  The weather in Vilanculos makes for an excellent holiday all year round so don't despair.  Contact us for that Easter or winter break.

Here at Casa de Lua we pride ourselves on our warm hospitality and friendly, accommodating staff.  Casa de Lua welcomes you and we promise to make your stay in one of our rustic casas a memorable one.  With lots of space to move around and a large verandah overlooking the sea or the garden you can really get some much needed relaxation.

Fishing:

We actively encourage visitors to bring their own boats;  we have very easy launching facilities, with absolutely no beach break, and once launched, we can also provide secure mooring for those that don't want to take their boats out every day. Fuel and 2-stroke oil is  readily available in Vilanculos.

Remember that Vilanculos does not have any tackle shops, so the most important thing to check before leaving SA is your tackle box. We stock standard basics only, and can help in an emergency, but don't spoil your holiday due to a missing favourite being left behind in SA!

We arrange full and half day fishing trips and cater for the professional fisherman as well as the once a year holiday fisherman.  For some family fun join us for a lula (calamari) fishing trip - weather and tides permitting.

Other activities:

Slap on that sunblock and get yourself into the beautiful "Fishtank" of 2 mile reef for a breath taking snorkelling experience or go on a day trip visiting the islands.  You will be amazed at the beauty of the beaches and underwater sea life.  On your trip you will most probably encounter dolphins, turtles and if you're lucky, whales.

September/October 2012 were exceptional months with whale encounters and we would love to share these experiences with you.  Remember whales travel up the east coast from July to November.

Shopping:

Many people are unsure when it comes to meal planning and what groceries to pack.  There are a number of stores in the town of Vilanculos where you can stock up on food and drink so there is no need to schlep along all your stuff from home.  Lets support local business!  Another benefit of being here is the plentiful fresh fish and other delicious seafood like calamari and crab so give the red meat a break.  If you forgot your undies or need another T-shirt P.E.P. Stores will probably have something useful.  Wi-fi is available in town at Kilimanjaro Cafe and there are various curio stalls along the roads and one or two very nice art/curio shops.
